Book Shop, Olympic Theatre, Vicenza

Responding to the guidelines of the competition, the project carefully establishes a discrete interaction with a space of great historical value. The plan and elevation of the bookshop are thought so as to adapt to the imposing proportions of the anti-Odeo (vestibule of the theatre) without interfering with its spatial unity. The pure volume of the large horizontal element confers strength to the project, and the simplicity of its forms brings it elegance. Calibrating the proper distances from the historical architectural elements, the shelving for display and a series of seats are placed along the walls and create a harmoniously proportioned vertical element that counterbalances the composition.
